A new perspective, a newfound passion. Canon user Adithyan Lalu shares his journey into photography: “Just six months ago, a friend handed me a camera at a college event. That moment sparked something in me. What started as curiosity soon turned into a passion—I fell in love with capturing stories through a lens. Photography has not only become my creative escape but has also given me confidence. I’m deeply grateful to those who have guided and supported me along the way. Now, I explore the forests and highlands of the Western Ghats, capturing the vibrant birdlife of this breathtaking terrain. My journey has just begun, and there’s so much more to learn. Through it all, Canon has been my trusted companion—its build, perfect grip, durability, and reliability in the wild make every shot special. With Canon, I’m not just taking pictures; I’m telling stories. More than a camera, it’s my creative partner, delighting me always! I strive to capture the unseen—to frame subjects in ways they’ve never been seen before. In this shot, the Indian Green Bee-eater isn’t just another bird—it’s a curious observer, peeking mischievously from behind a tree. Its vivid plumage against the blue sky adds to the playfulness of the moment. Captured with my Canon EOS 2000D and Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 (non-IS) lens, I set my shutter speed to 1/2500 sec, aperture to f/5.6, and ISO to 800 to freeze the moment with perfect clarity. A lesson in patience and perseverance. Jeffery Simon shares his story: "In the quiet solitude of a Pune bird hide, I waited for hours, letting patience take the lead. As the minutes stretched into what felt like eternity, hope began to waver. But then, in a fleeting moment, the Red-breasted Flycatcher appeared—a vivid splash of crimson against the lush green, making every second of the wait worthwhile. Capturing this moment required the right balance of skill and gear. With my EOS R6 Mark II , I set my aperture to f/7.1, ISO to 5000, and shutter speed to 1/640s to ensure I could freeze this beautiful sight in all its glory." Have a shot that tells a tale? Fueled by an unwavering passion for wildlife, Hrishikesh Sabnis has embarked on an incredible photographic journey. Let's hear about the story behind his flamingo shot in his own words: "Hi, I am Hrishikesh Sabnis, an IT professional by occupation and a passionate nature photographer. I started my photography journey long ago with a PowerShot S2 IS point-and-shoot camera 20 years back. Gradually, I upgraded to the EOS 550D with a 50mm f/1.8 lens and a 100-400mm L IS USM lens, then to the EOS 7D, the EOS 5D Mark III, and finally, my current setup—the R5 with a 500mm f/4 L IS II USM EF lens. Over the years, my passion for bird photography has grown, and my weekends are now dedicated to birding around Bangalore, where I am settled. One fine evening, during a boat ride at Ujani Backwaters (Bhigwan Bird Sanctuary), we came across a group of Greater Flamingos, busy feeding, drinking, and interacting among themselves. We anchored our boat at a vantage point, just as the sun was setting, creating a magical golden backdrop. We waited patiently for some action to unfold. To our luck, two flamingos engaged in a dramatic display of fighting, right next to a group of tranquil individuals who were drinking. The water shimmered like gold under the setting sun, and the droplets falling from the flamingo’s beak added to the beauty of the image. This particular shot, captured with my EOS 80D, is a testament to the power of dedication and the thrill of the chase." Have a shot that tells a tale? Birds in flight are a snap away if you follow these simple steps by our EOS Maestro Caesar Sengupta. Some very simple settings that you must keep in mind if you are shooting birds in flight. 1. Auto focus operation on servo AF. This is no more called AI Servo as it used to be earlier. 2. Auto focus method on tracking. 3. Subject to detect should be Animal. 4. Eye detection should obviously be enabled. 5. Case 2 on menu 3 – which tells the camera to continue to track the bird even if an object like a tree or a shrub or a pole comes between the camera and the bird. 6. Tracking sensitivity reduced to minus 1 further helps the camera to continue to focus on the tracked bird and even if there are some objects coming in between, it will be slow reactive to it and will not shift focus. #CANwithCanon #CreatewithCanon #BirdPhotography #Photographytips #CanonPhotography #CanonClicks #CanonIndia #DelightingYouAlways #CANwithCanon #CreatewithCanon #BirdPhotography #Photographytips #CanonPhotography #CanonClicks #CanonIndia #DelightingYouAlways
